We understand the concern about allergies! The good news is that at Dermessa, we take ingredient safety seriously. All our products are free of the 24 nasty chemicals listed on the “Nasty List,” which includes many known allergens. This should help minimise the risk of allergic reactions.
However, if you have a known allergy to a specific ingredient, it’s always best to check before you buy. We recommend two ways to do this:
- Contact us! Just send an email to hello@dermessa.com with the ingredient you’re concerned about, and we’ll be happy to double-check for you.
- Browse our website. Each product page has a detailed description and a full list of ingredients. Please review to ensure they’re a good fit for your skin.
- Do a Patch Test. We recommend doing a “patch test” on a small area of your skin if you’re uncertain.
If you experience any adverse reactions, please discontinue use and consult a healthcare professional if necessary. While we hope it never comes to that, we want to apologise in advance if our products cause any allergic reactions. However, it’s important to note that Dermessa cannot be held responsible for any reactions, and we are unable to provide replacements or accept returns in such cases. Your safety and satisfaction are our top priorities!

How to perform a patch test
Apply a small amount of the new product to a discreet area behind your ears, on your neck, or the inside of your arm. After waiting for 24 hours, check for any signs of sensitivity or irritation. If none occur, you can cautiously proceed to use a small amount on your facial skin. However, should irritation develop over time, it’s essential to discontinue use immediately.

Your skin might be purging! This refers to a temporary reaction that can happen when you start using new skincare products with active ingredients like acids. These ingredients exfoliate and speed up cell turnover, which can sometimes lead to temporary breakouts.
While it may look concerning, purging can actually be a good sign that the products are working! However, not everyone experiences purging, and it depends on your initial skin condition and type.
Skincare is a trial-and-error process. The best way to find what works is to introduce new products one by one. This way, you can identify the effects of each product and allow your skin to adjust.
Remember, a gentle routine that addresses all your skin’s needs is key. If the irritation continues, it could be an allergy. Stop using the product and consult a dermatologist if you experience severe breakouts.

For hygiene reasons and to ensure product safety, we kindly ask that opened items cannot be returned for a refund or exchange. However, if your order arrives damaged, we’re happy to offer a replacement or full refund. Simply contact our customer service team at hello@dermessa.com and we’ll be happy to assist you.
Rest assured, we take great care to ensure the quality of our products before sending them out. However, sometimes the journey can be a bit rough, and items may get damaged in the delivery process. If you happen to receive a box with damaged items inside, please reach out to us at hello@dermessa.com within 14 days, and be sure to include photos of the damaged product(s) (no need to include the damaged box, as it doesn’t affect the quality of the products inside).
Our policy has a 14-day window, so if 14 days have passed since you received your purchase, we won’t be able to offer a refund or exchange for damaged goods.
